CHAPLAIN

FROM THE CHAPLAIN’S DESK

Hallo there! I hope you are doing well. Allow me to introduce myself to you.  My name is Rev. Joseph K. Wanaina The school Chaplain – Kitale School.

I am happy to welcome you all, as we celebrate the 85th year of Kitale School existence. It is good to have such opportunity so that we can have time to evaluate what God has done to us.so many people from all over the world have gone through Kitale School. This is an achievement. It makes me remember the word of God in 1 samuel 7:12-13 – “ Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Jeshana and called its name Ebenezer for he said ‘Hitherto the Lord has helped us’. So the philistines all the days of Samuel”. (Rsv)

After a long period of sadness and trouble, a consequence of Israel’s disobedience, Israel repented under the Leadership of a new priest and judge – Samuel.  God Restored their political and security. The people on their part re-committed their hearts and mind to their Lord.

Samuel placed a large stone at the place where this restoration began. He publicly dedicated it as a monument to God’s faithfulness and God’s eternal covenant. As the people got on with their lives, the stone stood there, visible to all who passed that way. A reminder of judgment and repentance, mercy and restoration.

The Ebenezer stone represented a fresh beginning a reversal of course for God’s people. It also said something important about God . His mercies are everlasting look back and say “yes we serve living and faithful God whose mercies are everlasting”.

As Kitale school community, we can say that surely this far the Lord has blessed us. We have been able to produce professionals in all categories be it Engineers, Pilots, Doctors, Lawyers, Journalists etc. and yet we are still growing strong despite the minimal resources we have. This can be seen In terms of infrastructure as opposed to the increasing number of students and pupils. But God being our helper as he was to the Israelites, our mean score is improving yearly. And God being on our side we are sure of bright future full of success.

Finally as a community we believe in faithfulness of God. That he will be with us and our enemies will not subdue us for the hand of God will be against them. “For if God is for us, who is against us”. Romans 8:31 (RSV)

God bless you
